Population : 1889 people in Sydney claimed to have Brazilian ancestry in the 2001 census (3763 in Australia). This was less than the 2280 Brazilian-born people (4713 in Australia) - some of whom claimed Portuguese ancestry. In 1996, the numbers of Brazilian-born were 1563 in Sydney and 3359 in Australia. And in 1991, 1485 and 2977.

Stop off: Copacabana Restaurant, Botany; Brazil Galeria craft shop, Sydenham; Casa Brazil restaurant, Marrickville. The Canarinhos soccer club play every Sunday from 11am at Centennial Park and finish the day at Bondi Cafe at Bondi Beach, where a couple of Brazilians sing on Sunday nights.
